Privacy policy.

How DJC Engineering collects, uses, stores and shares your personal information, including enquiries from our website, phone, SMS, email and Facebook and Instagram lead forms.

Last updated 29 September 2026

This policy explains how DJC Engineering Group Pty Ltd handles your personal information when you enquire about our services, become a customer, or use our website. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

We do not sell your personal information.

1. Who we are

DJC Engineering Group Pty Ltd (ABN 36 692 345 467), trading as DJC Engineering ("DJC", "we", "us", "our"), installs security cameras (CCTV), alarm systems, access control, networking, Wi-Fi, data cabling and connectivity for homes and businesses across the Gold Coast and South East Queensland.

You can contact us about privacy using the details in section 15.

2. The information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It usually includes:

  • Contact details: your name, phone number and email address.
  • Location details: your suburb, postcode or the address of the property where the work is needed.
  • Property and job details: the type of property, what you'd like installed or fixed, existing equipment, access notes, your preferred contact method and any other details you give us about the job.
  • Business details: your company name, if you're enquiring for a business.
  • Communication records: notes of phone calls, and copies of SMS messages and emails between you and us.
  • Quote, invoice and payment records: what we quoted, what work we did, what we invoiced, and whether it has been paid. If you pay online or by card, your card details are processed by the bank or payment provider handling that payment. We keep a record of the payment itself.
  • Advertising information: if you came to us through a Facebook or Instagram ad, your lead form answers and the lead details Meta gives us (such as the ad, form and campaign the lead came from and the date it was submitted).
  • Website usage information: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location and how you interacted with the site, collected through Google Analytics (see section 7).
  • Site photos: photos or videos of your property or the work area that you send us, or that may be taken when we inspect, install or service a system (for example to plan the job or record the finished work).
  • System access details: if you give us details we need to do a job (for example gate or alarm codes, or Wi-Fi or recorder passwords), we use them only to carry out and support that work, and we limit who can see them. We recommend you change any codes or passwords you've shared once the work is finished. Our AI Camera Privacy Policy explains how we handle access to camera systems.

We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health information or information about your racial or ethnic origin). Please don't include it in forms or messages.

Anonymity: You can ask us general questions without giving your name, or by using a different name. To give you a quote or book a job, though, we need your name, contact details and the location of the property.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • Fill in a Facebook or Instagram lead form (Meta Instant Form). When you tap one of our ads and submit the form, Meta passes your answers to us. Meta may pre-fill some fields (such as your name, phone number or email) from your Facebook or Instagram profile. You can review and edit these before you submit. Meta's handling of information on its own platforms is covered by Meta's Privacy Policy.
  • Submit a quote or enquiry form on our website, or call us, send us an SMS or email us.
  • Deal with us during a quote, inspection or job, for example when we visit your property.

We may also receive your details from someone else, such as a builder, property manager, real estate agent, property owner or business contact who refers you to us or arranges work at a property. If we receive personal information we didn't ask for and don't need, we'll destroy or de-identify it where it's lawful and reasonable to do so.

4. Why we collect and use it

We collect, use and disclose personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and contact you by phone, SMS or email
  • assess your site and needs, prepare quotes, and book inspections and installations
  • follow up on enquiries and quotes
  • carry out, test and hand over the work, and provide support, maintenance and warranty service
  • send invoices, record payments and keep business and tax records
  • manage our relationship with you and keep accurate records of our dealings
  • measure and improve our advertising (see section 6)
  • understand how people use our website so we can improve it
  • send you offers or updates about our services, where the law allows (see section 8)
  • meet our legal obligations and deal with complaints, disputes or legal claims.

If you don't give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to quote or do the work.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed for the purposes above. This includes the service providers we use to run the business:

GoogleGoogle Analytics, which measures how our website is used.

We may also share personal information with:

  • any contractors or technicians who carry out work for us, where needed to do your job
  • equipment suppliers or manufacturers, where needed to arrange a warranty claim, repair or product support for your equipment
  • our accountant, bookkeeper, insurers and professional advisers
  • anyone else you ask us to share it with, or where the law requires or allows it (for example a court or regulator).

We expect our service providers to protect personal information and to use it only to provide their services to us.

6. Facebook and Instagram lead ads

When you submit one of our Facebook or Instagram lead forms, your answers are sent to us and recorded in our CRM (HubSpot). We then contact you by phone, SMS or email to reply to your enquiry, quote, book the work and follow up.

We may also let Meta know how leads from its ads progressed (for example, whether we made contact, quoted or completed the job). Meta uses this to measure how its ads perform and to help show our ads to people more likely to need our services. To match this to your lead, we may send the lead identifier Meta gave us and, in some cases, contact details such as your email address or phone number, which are normally converted into a coded (hashed) form before they are sent.

You can control how Meta uses your information for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.

7. Our website, cookies and analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it (for example which pages are viewed and whether a quote form was started or submitted). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology, and the information is processed by Google, including overseas. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

If you submit a form on our website, we receive the details you enter (such as your name, phone number, email, address or suburb, the service you need, your preferred contact method and job details).

From time to time we may use other similar tools to measure how our website and advertising perform, such as advertising tags from Meta or Google. They collect similar information about your visit, and you can manage them in the same ways, through your browser settings and your ad settings with those providers.

8. Marketing and how to opt out

We may send you information about our services, promotions or maintenance reminders by SMS or email where you've agreed to it or where the law otherwise allows. Every marketing message will tell you how to opt out.

  • SMS: reply STOP to any message from us.
  • Email: use the unsubscribe link, or reply asking to be removed.
  • Any time: call 1300 914 293 or email info@djcengineering.com.au.

Opting out of marketing won't stop us contacting you about a quote or job that's in progress. Replying STOP may stop all SMS messages from our number, including messages about an active job. If that happens, we'll contact you about any quote or job in progress by phone or email instead.

9. Storage, security and how long we keep it

Your information is stored electronically in the systems of the service providers described in section 5. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure, including:

  • limiting access to people who need it for their work
  • using established providers that have their own security controls
  • keeping our business accounts password-protected.

We keep personal information only as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires. For example, we keep records of enquiries that don't go ahead only while they're useful for following up or answering questions about the enquiry, and customer records for as long as they're needed to support your system, warranty and any later work. Tax and financial records are kept for at least five years, as Australian tax law requires. When we no longer need information, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where the law requires.

10. Storage and disclosure overseas

Some of the service providers we use, such as our CRM, SMS, email, website hosting, analytics, advertising and accounting providers, may store or process personal information outside Australia. This includes the United States, and may include other countries where those providers or their own service providers operate.

We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas providers handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the APPs, for example by using established providers that publish privacy and security commitments.

11. CCTV and security systems we install

The CCTV, alarm and access control systems we install belong to, and are operated by, our customers. By default, camera footage is stored on the customer's own recorder, not by us. Our AI Camera Privacy Policy explains how the systems we install handle footage, retention, access and facial recognition.

If you think a camera we installed records you, please contact the property owner or operator. We can help with questions about how a system we installed is set up.

12. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it's wrong, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details in section 15. We may need to confirm your identity first.

We won't charge you for making a request. We'll respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days, and if we need longer we'll tell you why. If we can't give you access or make a correction, we'll explain why in writing (unless that would be unreasonable) and tell you how to complain.

13. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first (see section 15) and give us a chance to fix it. We'll acknowledge your complaint, look into it, and aim to respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
